All Directions Pointe Home
26"H x 23"W x 3"D
Stoneware clay, Onoclea sensibilis (Sensitive Fern) fronds, Wire, Paper twine, Palm inflorescence, Reed.
Hand-formed in stoneware clay and assembled with materials gathered close to home—along the Niagara Escarpment and the shores of Georgian Bay—as well as from travels abroad, this work explores the idea of home as something we carry within us.
Conceived as a compass, the piece reflects the ways our hearts guide us toward places of belonging. Rather than pointing north, it points inward, reminding us that home is found through memory, connection, and the landscapes that shape us.
All Directions Pointe Home is an ode to summers spent on the shores of Georgian Bay and a tribute to the enduring pull of Pointe au Baril. It honours the places that become part of us, suggesting that no matter where life leads, every direction has the potential to point us home.
