It’s been a hot minute, but I’m back to the world of the living and have so much news to share! Here are the highlights:

Updates…

As my Instagram followers may know, I had a nasty fall at the end of June that left me with a broken scapula and 4 ribs fractured in 5 places. This quickly led to a week at St. Michael’s Hospital on the Trauma Ward and immediately changed my summer plans. It is now closing on 12 weeks since my accident and I can say that the healing has progressed well and as expected. The resilience of the human body continues to amaze me and St. Mike’s has renewed my faith in the medical system.

Although painful and obviously difficult, my lengthy convalescence at home allowed for me to bear witness to so many beautiful things, as I was made to slow down, stop and notice the minutia of changes happening in the world at my doorstep. Here are a few of my noticings that I am so grateful for:

  • The beauty of watching the gardens unfold day-by-day and be gifted with the time to slow down, stop and notice the changes.

  • The comings and goings of migratory bird and insect species, and the changes happening in the natural world to support their nesting instincts and food requirements.

  • The kindness of humans in times of need.

  • New friends and the welcoming of new opportunities.

  • A heartfelt thank you to Marina Dempster Photography for capturing so many beautiful images of me and my work on her visit up to my home and studio. Check her out.

  • A peace that comes with slowing down and the proverbial ‘shedding of skin’ that comes with focusing on what serves me well and what does not at this time in my life.

  • The time to dream up new works of art and build my creative energies. I’m just itching to get started again very soon!

  • My chickens. (A surprise clutch was hatched out on the day of my accident - June 28, and another planned brood was hatched out on my birthday -July 24). What gifts! They have provided me with such joy and their eggs nourish my body everyday.

  • My bees. Thank you to my husband and the help of some local beekeepers for their support when I could not go and check them on my own. The bees have been generous with their gifts this year and I have lots of honey to share with you!

2026 Craft Awards Ceremony + Exhibition

Join me in celebrating with the 2026 Craft Award Recipients at the opening exhibition reception and award ceremony > Craft Ontario on October 22 from 7-9pm!

“The annual Craft Awards recognize excellence and celebrate accomplished and dedicated practitioners in the field of craft and design. This year we are thrilled to announce the 2026 recipients, and hope you will join us in celebrating their achievements as we share their work with you in the upcoming months through the Craft Award Talks and the Craft Award Recipient Exhibition!”

The exhibition will be on view from October 16 - November 14 at the Craft Ontario Gallery location, 401 Richmond St West, Suite 108, Toronto, and the Ceremony will be taking place in Urbanspace Gallery, also on the main floor of 401 Richmond.

I have the honour of unveiling my newest and most cherished sculptural vessel to date at this prestigious exhibition - Liminal Spaces.
